Ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa would return to Sri Lanka on Sept. 3rd!

Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga once hinted that ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa would return to Sri Lanka.

According to the former ambassador, Rajapaksa was supposed to return on Wednesday (24) or Thursday (25), but because he revealed the arrival date, preparations became complicated.

Nonetheless, Weeratunga stated that Gotabaya Rajapaksa would most likely return to Sri Lanka on September 3rd.

He stated that there is no security issue in Sri Lanka for the Former President, but that those around him would drag him back into politics, which he feared would lead to another popular uprising.

“I doubt the people of this country would welcome Gotabaya Rajapaksa back. Because he has ruined our children’s future for the past two and a half years. I believe he is unsuitable for politics. He will be an excellent choice for minor tasks, as he was when he was Defence Secretary. But that is insufficient to rule a country “He stated.
