Environmentalists oppose the government’s efforts to export monkeys!

Animal rights activists are outraged that Sri Lankan animals are being shipped to other countries for meat or scientific research.

This was in response to the debate over sending monkeys from this country to China.

Dr. Jagath Gunawardena, an environmentalist, points out that Sri Lankan animals can only be sent to foreign countries for conservation or animal exchange programmes.

Environmentalists also stress the importance of conducting a formal survey before exporting Sri Lankan monkeys to China.
