Egg price to reduce from Monday

The All Island Egg Producers Association announced today that the price of an egg will be reduced beginning Monday (22).

The price of an egg will be reduced by Rs. 5 beginning next week, according to the association.

The decision was made public following a meeting between the All Island Egg Producers Association and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

The discussion centred on the issues that the All Island Egg Producers Association, the Veterinary Association, the Poultry Manufacturers Association, and other food manufacturers were dealing with.

Egg producers were forced to raise the price of eggs due to a shortage of chicken feed and a price increase.

As a result, eggs were sold for Rs. 60 per egg, causing significant inconvenience to the public.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade has warned that if egg producers do not lower their prices, a maximum retail price will be implemented.
