Economic pressures have significantly reduced alcohol consumption in Sri Lanka.

According to the Excise Department, Sri Lanka has fallen to the 79th place in the world’s alcohol consumption rankings.

Its spokesperson, Excise Commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe said that due to the economic pressure, alcohol consumption in the country has decreased rapidly and the sales of alcohol producers have also decreased by 40%.
