Dr. Nandalal appointed CBSL Governor

Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe was appointed by President for a six-year term as governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, beginning on July 1, 2022.
He was a former deputy governor of the Central Bank who moved to Australia after retiring to take up a position at a university. After then-Governor Cabral resigned, the President invited him to serve as acting governor of the Central Bank.

According to recent reports, the new Prime Minister was not a fan of Dr. Nandalal, but his appointment was approved by both the Prime Minister and the President.
