Doctors are boycotting Keheliya’s call for a discussion about medicine!

Many associations related to the medical field, including the Sri Lanka Medical Association, have taken steps to boycott a discussion called by Minister Keheliya Rambukwella recently.

The concerned medical associations had strongly protested against the Minister of Health regarding the Minister’s attempt to purchase medicines from Indian suppliers who were not registered locally.

It is said that the unions have decided to boycott the discussion called by the minister for that reason.

The minister has convened the meeting to discuss the control of rising drug prices.

Other medical associations including the Sri Lanka Medical Association have stated that the shortage of medicines has now become a serious crisis even more than the problem of rising medicine prices.

Also, the medical associations have strongly criticized the attempt to import medicines which are not registered by the Drug Regulatory Authority.
