The decision related to the petition filed before the Court of Appeal challenging the parliamentary position of State Minister Diana Gamage is scheduled to be announced today (06).

The petition had presented facts that the member in question is a citizen of Britain.

It has been shown that Diana Gamage MP, who has British citizenship, is not eligible to hold a parliamentary position according to the constitution of this country.

Therefore, Mr. Aushala Herath, a social activist, had filed a petition to issue a writ of mandate to invalidate her position as an MP.

The petition in which the Immigration Controller and the Attorney General were named as respondents was heard before a two-judge bench.

Accordingly, the verdict is scheduled to be announced today.
