Dengu iii reappears after 12 years! Health officials advise taking precautions.

With the current rainy weather, there is a risk of resurgence of dengue disease. The Association of Public Health Inspectors says that 29,000 dengue cases have been reported in the last 4 months of this year. According to the data, the number of people who have died due to dengue during that period is 15.

There are currently about 140 mosquito species in Sri Lanka, of which Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus contribute to the circulation of the dengue virus. 4 groups of dengue virus are currently identified and are known as dengue one (DEN 1), dengue two (DEN 2), dengue three (DEN 3) and dengue four (DEN 4).

Health departments are warning that after 12 years, Dengue Three virus variant is spreading in Sri Lanka. They point out that if someone has a fever that lasts for two days, getting tested for dengue can prevent it from getting worse.

Health departments say that it is essential to focus on places where dengue mosquitoes can spread.
