Yesterday (01), officers of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a monk named Siri Sumana from Borella, who is said to have aided and abetted Thilini Priyamali, who was engaged in a huge financial fraud while running an office on the 34th floor of the World Trade Center, to cheat millionaires and collect money.
This monk, who resides in the temple called Samadhi Aranya of Kadavata Vebada Arahatta, appears as an accomplished Rahat monk.
He was also arrested by a team of officers of the Criminal Investigation Department who went to the temple where he lived.
Investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department have revealed that Thilini Priyamali had a close relationship with this monk. But he has stated before the Criminal Investigation Department that he had nothing to do with her other than that she was helping the temple and he was not involved in any fraudulent activity.
Investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department have also revealed that she has spent a large amount of money on the temple.
After she cheated the businessmen and took the money fraudulently, when the businessmen were bothering her for the money, she took the businessmen to his forest in Webada. The businessmen who were caught in the fraud had told the Criminal Investigation Department that he opened a room to the businessmen and showed them a pile of gold bars and said that the gold belonged to Tilini and was kept in the temple for safety. In addition to this, a senior police officer mentioned that he had met some businessmen in Colombo and given Thilini character certificates and persuaded them to invest money in her businesses.
In the investigation it has been revealed that the gold colored bars which were said to be gold are not gold but brass blocks. Investigations have revealed that the weight of one brass block is about one kilo and two or three tons weight blocks were found there.
Even Isuru Bandara, whom she had appointed as a director of her company, whom she pointed out as her husband to the society, had 10 brass poles in the temple, claiming to be gold. 08 of those 10 gold bars were found by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department in Isuru Bandara’s house in Pirimathalawa. The Criminal Investigation Department says that an investigation has been started to find the brass rods which were said to be gold bars in a room of the temple located in Webada. The Criminal Investigation Department revealed information that they have started investigating the matter as they have not been able to find anything that happened to the gold bars.
According to information from the Criminal Investigation Department, information is being revealed that this monk has close relations with many actresses and has worked with Thilini Priyamali and a group of those actresses.
Sirisumana Thero of Borella was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department on the instructions of the Attorney General.
An officer of a mixed investment company in Sri Lanka is also going to be arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department. The information of the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that the facts emerging from the investigations regarding her have already been referred to the Attorney General for advice.
