China dispatched an observer! 17 debtor countries took part in the debtors’ country negotiations with Sri Lanka.

An official creditor’s committee has been formed related to debt restructuring in Sri Lanka.

The Paris club said in a statement that the decision was taken at the first meeting related to the debt restructuring held through the Margata system.

It is stated that the relevant committee has been formed with the participation of 17 creditor countries and India, Japan and France are co-chairing the said committee.

The Paris Club announced that the Sri Lankan authorities have also participated in that first meeting, where they made the official request related to debt restructuring.

Meanwhile, China has also participated in the first discussion regarding the debt restructuring process in Sri Lanka.

It is stated that all the creditors, including Sri Lanka’s largest creditor, China, were invited for the initial discussion related to the debt restructuring process, which was initiated by Japan, India and France.

Mr. Masato Kanda, Japan’s high-ranking financial representative, said that China participated as an observer in the relevant discussion.

Mr. Masato Kanda states that it is expected that China will participate as a full member in the future negotiations.
