Cabinet nod for agreement with Maldives on joint criminal investigations

The council of ministers of Sri Lanka has approved a request to enter into an agreement with the government of the Maldives for legal cooperation in criminal investigations, according to the government information department.

The suggestion was submitted by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, and it was agreed by the ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting on Thursday, September 22.
According to the statement, the plan aims to address legal obstacles in collaborative operations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives while also improving bilateral relations.
