British tourist files a writ application

Kayleigh Fraser, a British tourist, has filed a writ application with the Court of Appeal challenging a decision to deport her from Sri Lanka.

Respondents in the application include the Controller General of the Department of Immigration and Emigration and the Attorney General.

According to the petitioner, the Department of Immigration and Emigration made an arbitrary decision to terminate her VISA because she was involved in the Galle Face antigovernmental protests.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration announced that it had decided to cancel Fraser’s visa because she had posted protest-related content on social media.

The Department of Immigration and Emigration had informed her in writing that she needed to leave Sri Lanka by August 15th.

Kayleigh Fraser, on the other hand, is asking the Court of Appeal to rule that the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s decision is unjust.
