Bangladesh CB says SL would repay the loan in three instalments starting March 2023.

BD News 24 reported that Bangladesh is waiting for Sri Lanka to pay back the loan amount of US$ 200 million to Bangladesh in March next year.

BD News 24 news service further pointed out that following a meeting held between Sri Lanka Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and Bangladesh Central Bank Governor Mr. Abdur Raoof Talukdar, Mr. Abdur Raoof gave a positive response to this.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bangladesh said that the repayment of the US$ 200 million that Bangladesh had given to Sri Lanka under a foreign currency exchange agreement could not be completed on time due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka and that Bangladesh extended the loan payment period twice at Sri Lanka’s request. Mr. Abdur Raoof Talukdar said.

Mr. Talukdar said that Sri Lanka will repay the US$ 200 million loan in three installments in February and March next year.

Central Bank of Bangladesh Governor Abdur Raouf Talukder stated that in the meeting held with the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, he gave an assurance that Sri Lanka will repay the US$ 200 million loan on the due date.
