An intruder broke into the former AG’s office and stole one file out of many. CCTV recorded all details. The IGP has been informed.

The Criminal Investigation Department, reported the Colombo Additional Magistrate T.N.L.,Ilangasinghe yesterday (10) that they have started investigations regarding a person who allegedly came to the office of the former Attorney General Dappula de Livera in a white van and stirred up the files.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that their department took over the investigation conducted by the Narahenpita Police in relation to this incident on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.

The Department of Criminal Investigation informed the court that the complaint states that an unknown person came to the London Place Colombo 07 office of the former Attorney General in a white van on the night of November 11, 2022 and of all the files they had  fled with only one file.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the court that according to the CCTV footage, a person was observed to come to the place, stir up the files, spend about ten minutes and go to the Thimbirigasaya area in a white van.

The Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department reported to the court that the CCTV footage related to this incident has been given to the Forensic Digital Laboratory of the Criminal Investigation Department and the related reports have not been received yet.

The Criminal Investigation Department has informed the court that this investigation was started based on a notification made by the former Attorney General to the Inspector General of Police that his safety has been threatened due to this incident.

The Criminal Investigation Department also reported that the investigation will be conducted and the suspect will be arrested and presented to the court.
