An increase in tourist-related crimes. The lives of tourists are in danger! Stop all media coverage of arrivals and immediately beef up security!

A 19-year-old Canadian university student claims she narrowly avoided being molested by a three-wheel driver recently. The said three-wheeler driver had acted erratically, nearly rendering her powerless, and had forced sex, for which she had acted wisely, threatening him that she would film his vulgar act and broadcast it on Instagram. She recalls spending her time here with great fear, despite coming here with great love and devotion.

Genevieve Talek, a young woman, attended a dinner and party in the Ahangama area and took a tricycle to the Weligama tourist hotel where she was staying on the 8th at around 2.30 a.m.

While on the way, the driver who stopped the three wheeler in a dark place and tried to have forced sex with her, she had countered and told him that this illegal act of his would be recorded live and the incident would be broadcasted live on the Instagram social network from this moment on and yelled at him to take her immediately to the hotel in Weligama where she stays, and she had managed to videotape a portion of the incident.

Commenting on this incident, the relevant hotel management stated that they had to put in a lot of effort to prevent the damage that would have caused to the country due to the statement she made on social media regarding the incident.

The hotel management said that after the incident, the girl did not come out of the hotel room and was in a state of panic, and as the purpose of this visit was for her own study, she had to stay for a few more days, so she did not have confidence in filing a complaint with the police due to security concerns.

They claim that such cases are not reported to the police, and that if the country’s goal is to earn foreign exchange through tourism promotion, it is far more important to strengthen the legal system aimed at tourism and protect internal discipline than to hold festivals.

Three serious crimes against tourists have been reported to police in the last two days. A dead body of a Russian woman was discovered near Thotagamuwa Bridge in Hikkaduwa Molapu Oya on the 8th, and police suspect a crime was committed.

The foreign woman who died in this way was a woman who had been staying in Sri Lanka for almost three months.

On the 7th, a Czech woman filed a complaint with the police saying that her wallet with 480 Euros in her bag was stolen while she was traveling from Anuradhapura to Sigiriya.

600 dollars and mobile phone of a 26-year-old Russian national who was relaxing on Midigama beach were stolen on the 8th.
