A police dog sniffs its way into an army camp! Karandeniya new year’s day murder investigation takes a new turn! 36 T 56 weapons were taken into police custody from the camp!

On the evening of New Year’s Day (14th) in Ahungalla Meeddaramulla area, the official dog used to investigate the shooting of a person entered the Army Armed Intelligence Corps regimental camp in Karandeniya, and 36 T.56 firearms were issued to the soldiers who were on duty in that camp that day. Ennadu Tharindu Dhanushka Silva, a resident of Amaramoli Mawatha, Ahungalla, Middaramulla, was shot that evening by two unknown persons who came on another motorcycle while riding a motorcycle with his sister’s two young children. Later, he died after being admitted to Balapitiya Hospital and the two children aged five and one and a half years who fell from the motorcycle when the gunshots were fired were also injured and admitted to Balapitiya Hospital.

Meanwhile, on the evening of the 15th, the police found the motorcycle that the suspects were suspected to have come for the murder lying in a Karundu land near the Army Intelligence Unit in Areavala, Karandeniya Police Domain.

Later, during the investigation, the official dog entered the military camp and 36 T.56 firearms issued to the soldiers on duty that day were taken into police custody.

A senior police officer said that the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court will present the firearms to the government inspector.

Further investigations are being conducted by Ahungalla Police.
