Bandaraduwa police said that a 15-year-old school student residing in Ampara Bandaraduwa Mayadunna area was shot and killed by a crude 12 type firearm in his house.
Police say that this student came home after school and took the unlicensed firearm that was in the house and went behind the house and committed the shooting.
The student, who was seriously injured by the bullet, died after being admitted to Ampara Hospital.
The reason why the student shot himself has not yet been revealed.
The Bandaraduwa Police are investigating the incident.
