The fuel allowance for parliamentarians has been increased to nearly two lakh rupees recently.
In distant areas like Jaffna, an MP is given nearly two lakhs for fuel allowances, and MPs in other areas are given more than one lakh as allowances.
With the current price of fuel, this amount can provide about 400 liters of fuel for an MP.
According to the quota system operating in the country, no such amount of fuel is given monthly for any vehicle category.
