Professor G.L. Peiris, a member of parliament, stated that the social security levy will lead to an increase in the cost of goods.

Nonetheless, he stated during a news conference in Colombo that the people’s tax dollars will be used to preserve the current cabinet.

G.L. noted that the administration has decided to supply district coordination committee chairmen with official automobiles and 300 litres of gasoline. 320 vehicles have already been reserved for state ministers and their personnel. Mr. Peiris also stated that the government’s actions had resulted in around 3,000 youngsters dropping out of school due to hunger.
