The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution has been challenged in nine (09) petitions.
The petitions were filed with Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court today.
The petitions were filed by the General Secretary of Vinivida Peramuna Nagananda Kodituwakku, Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera, and seven other members of the public.
The respondent has been designated as the Attorney General.
They ask the court to issue an order declaring that the government’s proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution violates the Sri Lankan Constitution.
