Expolanka, Hayleys, LOLC, and JKH top the LMD 100 rankings.

The publisher of prominent business magazine LMD, Media Services, unveiled its top 12 line-up in the forthcoming LMD 100 special annual edition in an exclusive pre-publication release to the Daily FT.

Expolanka tops the 29th edition of Sri Lanka’s pioneering listed business rankings for Fiscal Year 2021/22. With combined revenue over Rs. 694 billion, the company has risen to the top of Sri Lanka’s edition of the Fortune 500 for the first time, thanks to a stunning 217% increase in turnover over the previous year.

Hayleys, last year’s number one, is second on the podium with a top line of Rs. 338 billion, while LOLC Holdings is third with a combined revenue of Rs. 224 billion.

Other companies in the top five include John Keells Holdings (JKH) and Carson Cumberbatch, who are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

Meanwhile, LOLC Holdings continues to lead the profitability rankings with a profit after tax of more over Rs. 77 billion, followed by Expolanka (Rs. 72.8 billion). Browns Investments, Brown and Company, and Hayleys complete the list of the five most profitable publicly traded firms in 2021/22.

According to a representative for Media Services, the rankings “confirm that Sri Lanka’s top conglomerates remain at the forefront of listed businesses.” If the top 12 results are any indication, 2021/22 was a watershed year for Sri Lanka’s immensely diverse listed corporations – despite the impact of the epidemic.”

Aside from the listed business rankings, the annual LMD 100 special edition will include the national economy and the performance of Sri Lanka’s leading listed companies in the fiscal year 2021/22. It will also include a series of interviews with the LMD 100’s top achievers.

According to Media Services, the LMD 100 special edition will be available in January.
