Sarana Gunawardena Jailed for Four Years in Each of Four Corruption Cases

The Colombo High Court has sentenced Sarana Gunawardena to four years of rigorous imprisonment in each of the four cases filed by the Bribery Commission on corruption charges. Sri Lanka Latest News

In addition, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 1.8 million on Sarana Gunawardena in relation to the said cases.

The verdict was delivered by Colombo High Court Judge Mohamed Mihail following a court hearing.

The Bribery Commission had filed the four cases against Sarana Gunawardena over allegations that he caused losses to the government by acting in a manner that benefited the owners of three vehicles while serving as the Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board in 2006.
